Gardening isn't really all about soil, but sometimes it seems so.
The Ozarks have a longstanding reputation for poor soil. Consider, for example, the old tale about the Ozarks farmer who sold a stranger 20 acres of land only on the condition that he'd take the rest of the farm with it. We do have more rocks in our soil than you can shake a spade at, but rocks don't necessarily make bad soil. In coming weeks we'll tell you why our Ozarks soils are actually very good, and how to make them even better.
