Until we saw this bouquet we had no clue that Globe Amaranth, or Bachelor's Button, comes in so many wonderful colors. Native to Central America, the species Gomphrena globosa now features varieties with red, lavender, orange, pink, purple, and white blossoms. It thrives in the Ozarks in sun or partial shade and grows to 30 inches tall. It likes fertile, well-drained soil and ample water but also tolerates drought. It attracts butterflies and also makes marvelous cut or dried flowers.
