 | Colorful graphics Campbell's Fresh Market grows beets, melons, cukes, okra, peas, peppers, sweet corn, tomatoes, and much, much more. Even the colorful signs are home-grown, as Mike Campbell was a graphic designer before being bitten by the full-time farming bug. | | A Tub of Beans The Campbells' snap beans come by the tubful in July. Here Laina handles the bean business while young Evan White, son of hosta growers Leo and Laura White, helps out. | | Pepperama
Mike and Laina are known for growing produce as long on looks as on flavor. Excuse us, please, we're suddenly hungry. No kidding.
| | A Bell-Pepper Rainbow
Bell peppers of all kinds and colors join the lineup in July and August, along with red, ripe tomatoes.
| | Yet More Peppers
And the bell peppers are joined by Anaheim peppers, jalapenos, and--watch out!--orange habaneros. Ole!
| | Greens, greens, and more greens The Campbells grow salad fixings and even prepare farm-fresh salads-to-go. They sell at four outlets: the Battlefield Mall Farmer's Market in Springfield, the Nixa Farmer's Market, the Fair Grove Farmer's Market, and the farm itself. | | A Garden in a Box The Campbells take the garden all the way to the
table in some remarkable salads. What makes this one so special? Take a
look at the label....
| | Country Blackberry Pie Have mercy!
| | Wax Beans
'Eureka' is a yellow wax bean bred for fresh markets and exceptionally good flavor. Wax beans are commonly yellow snap beans with a waxy appearance. (A few varieties are purple.) They're high in vitamin C and add color and flavor to many dishes, including salads. Tip: For the best flavor, eat them early; if you can see the beans in the pod, they're past their peak.
| | 'Yellow Doll'
A unique Campbell's treat--the 'Yellow Doll' hybrid watermelon, with vivid yellow color, a crispier texture, and slightly subtler taste than red-fleshed watermelons. The flavor? Excellent.
| | Potatorama Potatoes, and lots of 'em, are as much a staple with Campbell's as they are on our tables. Look for 'Red,' 'Cobbler,' and 'Yukon Gold' varieties. | | Fall Crops and Fun In the fall it's squash, pumpkins, and gourds of all kinds, indian corn
and wildflowers. It's also fun, as the Campbells' "Maze Daze" at the
farm starts in September--a family fest of corn mazes, a pumpkin patch,
hayrides, and many more goodies
